These beautiful, large, broad-spreading nut trees are prized for their showy catkins in June which are followed by sweet, edible nuts. Our seedlings produce abundant crops of large, high quality nuts are reportedly resistant to Chestnut Blight, a fatal disease of Chestnuts in the eastern U.S. Chestnuts prefer a sunny location with well-drained soil. Two or more trees should be planted for cross-pollination. Our Colossal seedlings will eventually grow to 25 feet or more in height and are hardy to minus 25°F.
