Chilean Guava
Ugni molinae
This attractive, compact evergreen shrub is covered in the spring with profuse, small, fragrant white flowers followed by sweet and tasty, pretty red berries. With their sprightly, guava-like flavor and fragrance, they are delicious for fresh eating and for jam and jelly. Chilean Guava grows 3 to 6 feet in height, likes sun in cooler areas, partial shade in hot regions, and is hardy to about 10°F. Chilean Guava also makes a nice container plant.
